Choose a telescope

Buying a telescope is not an easy work, people generally think that they only have to go to a shop which sells that kind of equipment, ask for one, choose someone and have money to pay it. But the true is that before buy a telescope you have to understand something about them.

There are many telescopes models:

Refractors: these are equipped with a large objective lens which is located at the end of the tube. Theses telescopes are longer and narrower than reflectors. They have the advantage of being easy to handle and move. They are a good instrument for beginners.

Reflectors: in this objective is a concave mirror located in the rear end of the tube and the opening is a secondary mirror. The models used are those with the Newton system. These are shorter but wider. The eyepiece (place where observed) is near the mouth of the tube and out at right angles to it. These telescopes are shorter than refractors and more intuitive use. They are widely used by amateurs who want to make important observations.

Catadioptric: the objective is a concave mirror at the opening but there are a corrective lens also has a secondary mirror. It's a mix between a refractor and a reflector. The tube is short and wide. The eyepiece is located at the rear of the lens. The reflectors are broadly powerful and high quality. However they are more compact and therefore easier to move and handle. There are computer models that provide greater benefits. The catadioptric are the best option for advanced astronomers.
